Canon PGI-9 GREEN Ink Cartridge - Compatible with PRO-9500 & PRO9500 MKII Printers | High-Quality Photo Printing for Home & Office Use

I have owned the Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II for over four years now. It is a good printer, produces stunning quality prints, and can print fairly large at 13x19". The primary drawback to such a printer is the cost of Lucia ink, which in local stores here in Colorado ranges from $16 to $21 for a single 14ml tank (!!), and frequently used cartridges like gray, yellow, and the blacks tend to be closer to the $21 mark. Add to that the issues that can crop up if you do not print at least one thing every couple of weeks, such as dried ink tanks (they still have ink, but somehow they stop serving up ink, and the dispenser pad feels dry) or clogged ink heads.I usually manage to find this ink pack on Amazon for around $112.99, making the cost per ink tank $11.30, which is more reasonable. I will often have two boxes of these open at a time, as my prints usually burn through gray, yellow, magenta, and matte black quicker than other inks. Despite the high up-front cost, over the long term, buying Lucia ink in "bulk" is a definite cost saver. Per-color savings can be as high as $9.70/tank for black, gray, and yellow, as much as $8.70/tank for magenta and the cyans, and on average $4.70/tank for everything else. If I were to buy each Lucia tank separately at the local MicroCenter (who usually has computer products at great prices), the total cost of all 10 is usually $180 (plus tax), making my savings $67 for every batch of ten inks. Having ink on hand and ready to go when one empties is almost essential when printing on 13x19" sheets of paper, as depending on ink usage for any given print, you can burn through as much as a third to almost one half of any given tank on a single sheet (i.e. a lot of Cyans, Gray, and Black are used on prints with lots of blue sky and blue water, lots of Green and Yellow are used on prints with lots of grass/flora/trees, etc.)I highly recommend buying Canon ink this way via Amazon, rather than via individual tanks or in local stores. While your immediate cost may be lower, your long term costs can be much higher. Assuming you print enough to consume approximately 10 full tanks of ink a month, yearly cost at average per-tank sales in-store (based on my local MicroCenter prices) is $2160/yr, cost at list price per tank ($15.99, or the price of this box at MicroCenter is slightly less, $155.99) is $1919/yr, while the cost of buying these 10-ink packs on Amazon is $1356/yr. That is a savings of up to $804 a year...quite considerable! :)Now THIS is a value pack. When I can get ten ink tanks for little more than one hundred dollars, I consider that a relative bargain in the world of printers and ink. I've often felt that printer manufacturers should give you the printers for free so long as you buy their ink in much the same way that certain coffee sellers give you the brewers for free so long as you buy their coffee..I have three canon printers and of course none of them take the same cartridges. My pro 9500 takes ten ink tanks and typically it doesn't pay to purchase them individually. The ONLY problem is that it seems I use hardly any cyan and so sitting in my ink drawer right now is one tank of each color and about 5 tanks of cyan. If anyone needs a PGI-9 C let me know. You pay the shipping and its all yours. But even with the unused cyan tanks I still think this is a great deal. Perhaps when this printer starts to die I will load all the ink bays up with all my saved up cyan cartridges and make some sort of modern day cyanotype print.For now suffice it to say that this value pack is indeed a good value. The inks are beautiful and combined with good professional papers photos look incredible. The ink is supposedly archival to something like 10,000 years if paired with the right paper, but I wont be around to check. I wonder whether amazon and this review will be around then. I'm thinking not. But hey, if you are reading this review even a hundred years from now (2115) please go find some of my old prints and let everyone know how well the ink held up.BOTTOM LINE: if your printer uses this ink this value pack is the way to go. But if all you need is the cyan, give me a callI'm asked to rate this canon ink and I don't know just what "sheerness" would be! Anyhow as Canon brand name, you can be sure the colors are vibrant, they remain good for a very long time properly stored (I always use them up and have to buy more though), the quality is consistent and the price is high. l I recently got a new printer with these new "large" ink containers and looks like I'll be changing ink a LOT less often with that (although it does not have as many colors as this and cannot be expected to do as nice a job printing photos.I've been using the Canon Pixma Pro 9500 MK II for more than a year. It prints color, and black and white, exquisitely using these Lucia inks. Ink cartridge size/volume and price might be a problem however, if you're looking for a bargain. Money can be saved by purchasing the 'Value Pack' but don't believe that the cartridges drain at an equal rate, because they don't. Needless to mention, if you print black and white, which you really should do as the results using these OEM inks are truly excellent, you'll run out of those inks earlier and buying the value pack will just cause unnecessary expenditures, and you'll wind up with certain color inks sitting on your shelf. My printer came loaded with these inks, but I purchased a value pack because I don't ever want to run out without a replacement cartridge on hand. Now, I check prices on the internet and purchase specific items as needed. And you can often find these OEM inks at marginally discounted prices. I print photos only, taking advantage of the large size capability of my printer, and I print often. I haven't one complaint.I have used the Canon PG - 9 inks for the several years on a Canon Pro printer as amature photographer. The ink has had consistent quality and pricing has remained about the same. Pros include the excellent black and gray for B-W printing and the colors are equally brilliant on the Canon semi-gloss paper that I always use. Another thing I like is the ease of installation. Cons include the cost especially for users like me who print most of my work for shows, portfolios and sale. I have tried other inks with this printer, but none have reached Canon's quality.Top quality original product and best price on the web. One bitten on an Epson printer with compatible inks, NOTHING would persuade me to use them on this TOP printer.. Although the individual tanks are quite small they are reasonably economical. I have just completed a 40 print run in A3 - FULL COLOUR for a forthcoming exhibition. The highest consumption generally, are the Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta and Photo Black. Of course it very much depends on the image being printed but the ones in question are full spectrum, rich images.My FRPS wife, 40yrs professional, likes the finish from our Canon Pixma printer, because she can match what she sees on the monitor. Having spent 5 years as a specialist colour developer as well for a renowned develop/print company, she knows when a colour looks right. When you pay £1000 for a professional printer, you need high quality ink to produce the finished article.This gives high quality consistant colour, is not expensive compared to its lifespan, it merits the description 'Does what it says on the can'.Good price quick delivery, cartridge box a bit dog eared but hey that's not what counts.
